Claudia Klaus

ABOUT

“Put on the beasts head”, she said, “and you will become like me.” The world became brighter as I left all thoughts trapped within the maze of my human form. We danced to the sun and called on the heavens. Nights were long and the wine tasted even sweeter on my feral tongue. We praised my new form, grew our hair and embraced the scorn. She was fierce and free, everything I wanted to be.

Claudia Klaus is an artist based in London. While attending Central Saint Martins, Klaus discovered feminist and queer art. Early works of Klaus took great inspirations from adult mags of the 1970-90’s. Analysing how the female form could be considered provocative with a turn of the head or a twist of a leg, these references can still be felt in more recent works. Later work now takes strong influences from renaissance and neo-classical paintings, putting the female form in the spotlight. Finding a balance of the crude and the nude.
